The article above gives an overview of our work in enhancing learning outcomes for students of all ages. It is taken from the Leader magazine of the Association of School and College Leaders.
I'm involved in the development of a series of interventions to make schools and homes more effective places of learning. Our work focusses on linking the latest in metacognition research (Learning to Learn) with practical strategies to engage and extend learners in the learning process.
We've developed interventions for students in school settings which focus on ensuring that the concrete skills they learn in Language and Mathematics are developed to the point where they become a mental process. This gives students much more confidence in areas such as speed reading, comprehension and use of number. These skills underpin all areas of the curriculum
We are also available to provide consultancy to schools looking to enhance the learning process by embedding our strategies into daily lessons.
Currently, our primary Magic Maths intervention is yielding a 30% improvement across the Y6 cohort, whilst, on average, our secondary Neural Learning Programme is yielding an 18% improvement in Maths and English results across the Y11 cohort based on the training of a sample of the whole cohort.
By far the most inovative part of our work is in enabling parents, whatever their educational background to create the home environment to enhance learning.
I'm happy to explain our work in greater detail. Contact me through:
I'd be interested to hear other pespectives on accelerating learning for all students.
